Originally envisioned and designed by the legendary Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa in 2001, this cliff-top pavilion stands today as an awe-inspiring testament to Bawa's innovative vision and pioneering approach to architecture.

Throughout his illustrious career, Geoffrey Bawa redefined Tropical Modernism, an architectural style that embraced the local environment and culture while incorporating modern design elements. Red Cliffs Mirissa perfectly embodies this philosophy, where the boundary between indoors and outdoors is artfully blurred, allowing the surrounding natural beauty to become an integral part of the villa's ambiance.

Bawa's genius lies in his ability to create spaces that harmonise with nature, elevating the sensory experience for guests. The prime position of Red Cliffs Mirissa on a promontory offers sweeping views of the enchanting Laccadive Sea, Mirissa Harbour, and Weligama Bay. The turquoise sea contrasts beautifully with the majestic red cliffs, creating a captivating spectacle as the sun's rays dance upon the waters during sunrise and sunset.
